Design for Inclusive Care

Scope: Provide site appraisals before site purchase, develop client’s feasibility studies and full Design and Build services to build a new 6000 sq ft accessible home, fully adapted for 24hr assisted living within a sloping infill site in the heart of Heddon-on-the-Wall working with the local Planning Department and Parish Council [£0.9m]

Aims: Starting with feasibility studies to develop the brief and site potential, planning for adaptability and full mobility, working closely with Yorkshire Care, the client and their physiotherapy advisor to provide an accessible, energy conscious design including solar passive-energy conscious design, PV and solar hot water arrays, rainwater harvesting and whole house heat recovery.

Measures: Acoustic and energy management; adapting the construction to reduce running costs and energy in use while providing a modern, adaptable home overlooking the Tyne Valley to the south.
